Dust Collection

CNC routers make dust, and a lot of it. This can wreak havoc on even the heartiest machine components if not controlled properly, so installing a form of dust collection at the source is highly recommended.

Dust Shoe Selection

The dust shoe is a critical part of any dust collection system. To ensure our customers have a complete solution and hassle-free experience, we thoughtfully designed a professional-grade chambered dust shoe that is optimized for the Avid CNC machine ecosystem. Check out all the features and benefits of the Avid CNC Universal Dust Shoe system on our store.

Dust Collector Selection

Our customers often choose to use a dedicated dust collector located near their CNC machine. A 1HP or larger dust collector with 4" diameter hose should provide plenty of airflow and static pressure. It is advisable to purchase a unit with a canister-style filter as these flow better and do a better job of filtering smaller particles.

A Cyclone "Dust Deputy" collector is optional and can extend the intervals between emptying the dust collection bag as well as prevent larger fragments from clogging the dust collector inlet (preserving dust collector performance during CNC operations).

Dust Collection Tips

  • Setup your Dust Shoe such that the flexible brush ring reaches the end of your tooling.
  • Use flexible dust hose with integrated ground wire centered above your machine's work area.
  • Connect your hose ground wire to the dust collector chassis or designated ground attachment lug.
  • Optional - Connect your dust collector to your plug and play controller's switched AC outlets for automatic activation of dust collection during CNC program execution.
